Travelling a lot for work, I noticed just how much plastic is used in one trip; from all of the single-use plastic on the plane to disposable toiletries in the hotels.
I learned that 21 million tonnes of plastic goes into our oceans every year - the equivalent of 1 million loaded garbage trucks - and there'll be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050!
Most plastic takes 400 years to break down. Some plastic never breaks down. It sits in landfill, clogs waterways, and strangles sea and bird life. Plastic literally kills our environment.
Bamboo is the fastest-growing woody plant in the world. It's strong, dent-resistant and needs no irrigation, pesticides or fertiliser to grow, and its roots prevent erosion by holding the soil in place.
